The Unified Communicator is an end user application for Eclipse business telephone systems. This application provides users with full control of their phones from virtually anywhere through multiple user interfaces including, speech recognition, touchtone, PC Web browser and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) devices, such as cellular phones and handheld computers (PDAs).
The Unified Communicator provides end users with a powerful set of tools designed to enhance the control and flexibility of the desktop environment including:

- Unified personal contacts and system directory

- Easy access to feature codes
Web Client Features
Unified Communicator offers features to end users through a standard Web client via personal computer or a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Web client via cellular phones. The product provides the ability to directly manage and control personal features, presence management features and specific phone features of the users' desktop Axxess or Eclipse telephones, including:
- Access and modify:
- Availability and DND status
- Location
- Call routing
- Forwarding options
- "Point and click" to activate feature codes
- View new messages (voicemail and station)
- Monitor stations
- Merge Outlook contacts with system contacts
- Place calls to contacts
Telephone and Voice User Interface Options
To complement the core functionality, a telephone interface and a speech recognition engine are optional modules for the Unified Communicator. By adding the appropriate module, users can call into the system and access the various options through either a touchtone or voice interface for automated call handling and increased flexibility.
